Adrenaline in Hurghada: parasailing, quad, buggy or diving – what to pick as an adult
Updated October 7, 2026 · 6 min read
In short. For most adults, “Hurghada Desert Experience with Quad, Buggy & Camel” fits best: four to five hours, €36 per person, rated 4.8 from 2,366 reviews: see dates and prices for the quad and buggy safari. If you want your adrenaline over the water, it is “Hurghada: Parasailing Adventure on the Red Sea”, 25 minutes from €29.69: see parasailing prices. The cheapest way in is “Hurghada: Quad Bike Tour of the Desert and Red Sea”, three hours from €12.87: see prices for the quad tour.
People who ask “where is the adrenaline” usually mean two different days: air and water, or sand and engine. Below is what you actually get for your money in each case, and where the price difference explains nothing.
Five offers side by side
| Offer | Duration | From | Rating | What you do yourself |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parasailing on the Red Sea | 25 minutes | €29.69 | 4.2 · 508 reviews | you fly behind the boat, alone or with friends |
| Quad Bike Tour of the Desert and Red Sea | 3 hours | €12.87 | 4.3 · 3,358 reviews | you drive the quad yourself |
| Quad, Buggy and Camel | 4–5 hours | €36 | 4.8 · 2,366 reviews | two vehicles, plus a camel |
| Intro Diving Beginner and Discover Red Sea Underwater | 8 hours | €44.70 | 4.8 · 1,419 reviews | a first dive with an instructor |
| Sunset Desert Safari by Dune Buggy | 3 hours | €71.91 | 3.9 · 300 reviews | you drive a dune buggy |
Four of the five offers cost between €12.87 and €44.70. The fifth costs €71.91, and the difference is explained neither by the rating nor by the duration: it has the lowest rating in the table.
In the air: parasailing
According to the description, you fly at 200 feet, about 60 metres, above the Red Sea behind a boat, alone or with up to three friends, with transfer from your accommodation. It is the shortest offer in the table, 25 minutes, which raises a question the description doesn’t answer: how much of that you spend in the air. How to work out time and price is covered in a separate guide: parasailing in Hurghada.
Parasailing is rated 4.2 from 508 reviews, the second lowest in the table. Take it if you specifically want to hang above the sea, not just “something on the water”: for any other purpose this table has cheaper offers with higher ratings.

In the sand: quad or buggy
You are at the controls yourself, and that is the whole difference from parasailing. The €12.87 tour means a quad, a ride through the desert and a view of the Red Sea; the description lists three time options (sunrise with breakfast, daytime, sunset with dinner and stars) and, in addition, transfer, a camel and other services. The “from” price applies to the basic option.
The €36 tour adds a second vehicle, the buggy, a Bedouin village, a camel ride and a talk about herbs and natural oils. If you go to the desert only once on holiday, this is the most balanced choice: a rating of 4.8 from 2,366 reviews and two kinds of driving in one day. How to choose between quad, buggy and jeep and how to work out the time behind the wheel is covered here: quad, buggy or jeep.
Minimum age and whether a driving licence is needed are not stated in the descriptions. We won’t make them up: ask the operator on the booking page and ask for the answer in writing.
Underwater: the first dive
“Intro Diving Beginner and Discover Red Sea Underwater” is eight hours, €44.70, 4.8 from 1,419 reviews. The description mentions an introductory dive with a professional instructor. It is the longest day in the table.
Which health requirements apply before diving is not stated in the description, and we give no advice on it: that is a question for a doctor and for the operator. How to choose between diving and snorkelling is covered in a separate guide: first dive in Hurghada.
Sunset buggy: when it isn’t worth the money
“Sunset Desert Safari by Dune Buggy”: three hours, €71.91, rated 3.9 from 300 reviews. On the listing the price is given “per group up to 1 person”, and the description mentions a ride in a dune buggy past local villages, with transfer there and back. It isn’t necessarily a bad day, but on price and rating it is the worst ratio in the table. What the trip costs for two and whether two people can share one vehicle has to be checked in the basket, not assumed.
If you want a desert sunset, you can get it cheaper and with a higher rating among the evening programmes: stars in the desert near Hurghada.
Who it isn’t for
Quad and buggy mean dust and bumps. If anyone in the group copes badly with dust, heat or a rough ride, the desert will be unpleasant rather than exciting. If you are afraid of heights, it is better to skip the parasailing. With teenagers these questions are sharper still, and we have covered them separately: Hurghada with teenagers.
Our recommendation
Take “Hurghada Desert Experience with Quad, Buggy & Camel”. It is the only one of the five offers that combines a rating of 4.8, more than two thousand reviews and two different vehicles on one trip; the €36 price is €23.13 above the cheapest quad, and that difference covers the buggy, the camel and the Bedouin village.

If you count every euro, take the quads for €12.87. If adrenaline means air to you rather than ground, take the parasailing, but only once you have found out how many minutes you will actually spend flying. We wouldn’t take the dune buggy at €71.91 with a rating of 3.9 until you have checked exactly what the price includes. The other desert programmes are collected on the desert safari page.
